Well, it is now roughly 11 weeks until we leave on our first furlough.  Our children are getting excited to be able to meet family members for the first time.  They also have 3 churches that they constantly talk about visiting.  I asked them why those churches were high on there wish list to visit.  The answer was simply, “Dad, they send us Birthday cards without fail.” It was not complicated.  Rather, it was just a card letting them know that someone remembered them and cared!

Thinking about all that will need to get done in the next 11 weeks is a bit daunting!  To begin, we started making lists of what needs to be done.  Quickly, our lists began to have lists.  As we go through the process, I plan to write more posts.  Our goal is to keep you informed on our progress and to give a glimpse into all that goes into a furlough.

Update on Melissa

It has been about 10 weeks since Melissa had her knee reconstructed.  She has recovered about 76 degrees of movement back in her knee.  Recently, she was given approval to begin driving again and resume some of her normal activities.

Please continue to pray for her recovery.  We are told that it could be until December until she gets full movement back in here knee.

On Wednesday the 22nd of June, Melissa will be having surgery to reconstruct her knee.  The surgery will take roughly 3 hours.  After that, she should be in the hospital 2-10 days, have 2-4 weeks where she will have limited mobility, and 3 months of physical therapy.

 

Please pray for the surgeons and for her recovery time.  We have 2 helpers from the U.S. which will be a great help to our family during this time.  We will keep you updated through future posts.
